Welcome back to Buckeye Talk at your game preview. It's Doug Laymarie, special guest, John

0:29.8

Steppi from the Cedar Rapids Gazette and the Gazette.com Nathan and Steven will be along

0:33.9

a little bit later, but we wanted to get on Iowa stuff first of all. And John, to be fair,

0:39.7

we'll start with the thing that Iowa does well, which is defense because we know it's not

0:43.7

offense. I am curious, Riley Moss, one of the best corners in the Big 10. I think if you're

0:48.2

going to try to slow down Ohio State, you have to cover how good is this guy? Put him

0:53.1

in context. He's been in all Big 10 player. How good is Riley Moss?

0:56.9

Well, Big 10 defensive back of the year, you see how he's not perfect. He's made some mistakes.

1:04.1

You look at Kentucky in the citrus bowl. It was kind of partially his mistake that led

1:09.6

to the big play that led to the go ahead touchdown. So he's not a perfect guy, but somebody

1:15.1

who early on in the season last year was a turnover machine. And really somebody that's

1:21.1

consistent. You see, especially earlier on this season this year, there weren't a ton

1:26.9

of opposing quarterbacks who are really challenging him frequently. So he's certainly a talented

1:33.4

guy. And I think the game changer this year, a little bit, is the guy on the other side

1:39.8

of him, Cooper DeGene, who sometimes plays Iowa's cash safety, just kind of a fancy way

1:46.4

of basically staying in nickel safety. So having Moss and DeGene both. So Moss oftentimes

1:53.5

plays that safety position. But because of injuries, it's quite a lot of corner. So this

1:58.4

is really the strength is this defense. And the secondary was a part that maybe would

2:04.5

have been a question mark going into the year. But when you have Moss coming back and

2:09.5

not pursuing the NFL draft, that was big. Having young guys like DeGene emerge, it really

2:16.1

is a spot where you see why Iowa priced itself on so many turnovers. They haven't forced
