Brian Laird on WNYC, you might say the Republican Party used to have an abundance theory of energy policy, develop all kinds to keep energy bills low. But an article on the

0:23.1

climate-focused news site, HeatMap, says, not anymore. At least there's tension in the party

0:28.8

about that. We'll talk now about the new energy restrictionists, including President Trump,

0:34.3

who made headlines on this yesterday, and we'll get HeatMap's take on the Paris Climate Treaty,

0:39.4

which just turned 10 years old this month. Did you know that? Looks great on paper. We'll see how much it

What we are experiencing under this federal government is a restrictionist approach to quote

1:58.6

unquote renewable energy, wind, solar energy at utility scale to power

2:04.5

human activity.

2:06.5

And the offshore wind industry has been the most vulnerable target of this government because

2:13.9

it relies entirely on acreage or waters that are under federal control.

2:21.2

And so yesterday, what happened was a potential death knell for the capacity for offshore wind to develop in the United States.

2:32.1

Listeners in New York City, that includes the Empire Wind Project,

2:36.1

which you may remember, was halted before. And then in a deal with Governor Kathy Hochell,
