Hi friends. I am Annie F Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first

four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories

of Jesus Christ life on Earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, and the miracles.

Each month we get to read all four books. We've done Mark, Matthew, John, and this week as we finish up the month of October we will read the book of Luke.

You don't have to be in the Gospels every day to be changed, but every day you're in the

Gospels will change you. So I'm really glad you're here with us today and will hopefully

stick with us this week as we finish the book of Luke.

Here's how this works.

I'm going to read three chapters to you and you can listen or read along in your own Bible and

then I'll pray and that's it.

Today is October 23rd and I'll be reading Luke,

chapters two through four,

and this month I'm reading from the NRSV Catholic Edition.

Luke 2. In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken when Corinius was governor of Syria.

All went to their own towns to be registered.

Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea,

to the city of David called Bethlehem because he was descended from

the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary to whom he was

engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child,

and she gave birth to her firstborn son
