With Gene and Chris, we had a fascinating discussion last week where we talked shop,

and I made a couple of comments that I suppose could be construed as partly political, although they were meant to be factual. So we got

letters, as we do. Of course, you know, the letters are all over the range. Some people love us.

Some people hate us. Some people complain about the ads.

Of course, we can't do anything about the ads because we're on our regular radio network.

Regardless, the point being that people have all sorts of opinions,

and sometimes we want to answer a few of the comments.

So last week I mentioned, for example, the very simple elementary

definition of the U.S. debt limit, which specifies how much the Treasury can borrow to pay its

bills. It doesn't authorize new spending. So somebody who boasted of having three or four degrees

after his name sends me a letter

saying, I don't know what I'm talking about and goes on to complain about how the U.S. debt is going to

impact our children, our grandchildren, our great, great grandchildren, all that. Now, the point here

is that I wasn't talking about spending or spending priorities.

I was talking about the debt ceiling.

So I said to the person, look, if you don't believe me, I'll send you a link, go to the U.S. Treasury site, and look at it.
