Hello, it's Monday the 11th of October and thanks for joining me, Simon Calder, for the latest on

travel and destinations from the Green List and the Travel Desk of the Independent.

Today, red list changes have taken effect, the highlights.

Testing for travel to Spain for unvaccinated people who've recently had COVID.

And Ryanair's six-month passport rule for British travellers to the EU.

It's made up and unenforceable.

newsletters. If you happen to be asleep at 4 a.m. British Time on Monday the 11th of October,

then you would have missed the change that took place, which meant that arrivals from 47 of the 54 red list countries

have been moved to the rest of the world list, effectively the Amber List, from which

people who have been fully vaccinated and those jabs are recognised by the UK need not go into hotel quarantine or self-isolation

at home. All they need is to have a test on the day they arrive or one of the two following

days at the moment. That's a PCR test. Soon it will be a lateral flow test. We don't know when. An awful lot of wonderful countries

have now effectively opened up. South Africa. Brazil and many other South American countries,

although the seven that remain are all in Latin America. Mexico and Cuba are all now regarded as sufficiently low risk.

And a number of African countries as well, including I'm delighted to say, Tunisia,

which I think deserves your attention this winter.

And looking east, Thailand and Indonesia are also on the OK to go list.
