2021. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines for the day. Number one,

the Senate lifts the debt limit. Number two, our five outstanding questions. And number three,

Senate Republicans retreat to Palm Beach. Let's get into the mix. We've been covering this like

crazy. So the Senate

has passed a short-term extension of the debt limit by a 50 to 48 party line vote. Before that,

there were 61 votes to break the Republican filibuster. That means 11 Republicans voted with

Democrats to break that filibuster. And there was also some last-minute drama. Chuck Schumer

went to the floor after the vote and harshly

criticized Republicans for provoking the crisis. Joe Manchin didn't like the tone of his remarks and he

said the speech he told Schumer, Manchin told Schumer the speech was quote F blank blank blank

I NG stupid. You know I I you know, I was going to say the word, but I decided that this is a

So anyhow, Manchin also complained to reporters.
