| 1:00.4 | Solomon's and Kiribati and so on, but really they're not making great progress and losing |

| 1:06.8 | The US and Australia in particular, and even New Zealand, are losing some traction. |
| 1:13.5 | They know, all of them know, including the US, and China, that they are absolutely committed to taking dominance over the South Pacific and Southwest Pacific in particular, which is critical to the southern, if you like, reaches of the People's Republic of China's influence. |
| 1:33.6 | It's critical to controlling the ASEAN waterways, which link the Indian Ocean and the Pacific around Southeast Asia. |
| 1:41.4 | But there's been a lack of, if you like, understanding by all of the |
| 1:47.1 | major powers of the realities on the ground in the region. The PRC got around having to bother |
| 1:53.5 | about understanding the cultures of the region by just offering large amounts of money |
| 1:59.0 | under the table to a lot of politicians and to a degree that |
| 2:02.6 | worked. But in many respects, it alienated many. But with the case of Australia, they have been |
| 2:10.2 | in New Zealand, but particularly Australia, which is the dominant power in that region, including |
