Tonight's Twilight Zone poses an unusual question.

Does a different kind of Twilight Zone call for a different kind of Twilight Zone podcast?

Because how exactly am I supposed to present you with a selection of dialogue from an episode that barely has any dialogue at all.

And how do I compare the work of a writer and director with their other contributions to

the series when they didn't actually make any?

Because this was never meant to be

an episode of the Twilight Zone in the first place.

Most episodes of the show stand alone as something uniquely Twilight Zone,

and yes, a handful of them are adaptations of earlier works,

but none of them arrive with quite the literary baggage

of the story we're discussing tonight.

In fact, one of the other anthology giants of that era,

Alfred Hitchcock Presents, got their first adapting this tale of full five years

before Rod Serling ever introduced it.

Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we're reminded that the twist that sudden bend in the road is older than the twilight zone itself.
