After yesterday's story on the front page of the Sun, at the time rather, I should say that the StarMap

manifesto is now going to contain methodology as to how people can change their gender

easier than they can at the moment, particularly with reference to, you know,

a period of time where they're supposed to have lived as a person with another gender.

Labor's plans to do that, according to Kemi Badenock, would create loopholes for predators.

At the moment, transgender people are currently required to submit evidence that they have

lived as their preferred gender for two years in order to obtain a gender recognition certificate. That won't need to any longer be

the case if Keistis-Sarmer's plan goes ahead. Let's find out from Naomi what that is a problem for.

continued to upset J.K. Rowling, who says that she now is going to find it still very much

more difficult to vote for the Labour Party, given their policy on all of this.

Yes. It's all quite complicated because our gender recognition certificate is not a magic access all areas pass.

In most of the circumstances, possibly very nearly all of the circumstances in which it is lawful to exclude men from women only spaces or women

from men only spaces, but for obvious reasons we mostly talk about excluding men from women

only spaces. It's lawful to exclude men who don't have a gender recognition certificate

because there are specific permissions to discriminate on grounds of sex, but it will also be

lawful by a different route to exclude those men who have a certificate making the counterfactual

declaration that they are a woman. So a gender recognition certificate doesn't completely

answer the question of what space is you're entitled to access. In fact,

it doesn't really help very much with it. But what it does is create a very considerable

chilling effect. And it makes the legal route to exclusion a bit more complicated. So presumably also,
