there about the NHS and about how and when and why and whether, in fact, Keir Starmer, is

going to be able to fix it. It looks like the 40,000 extra sort of appointments that he's promising

in hospitals is a doable thing because somebody called Perry has very kindly

broken it down and makes it about seven extra appointments per week per hospital in England.

So it can be done perhaps.

But we need to move away from this concept of treating people when they get into hospitals and making sure they don't get there in the first place. That's

fundamentally the problem here. We've stopped trying to heal the nation and we're just busy

helping hospitals heal sick people. Ultimately, that will always fail because people are

going to get older and sick as life progresses. Yes, but I mean, they should probably be getting older and less sick, shouldn't they,

if we're going through this modern sort of change of government,

and we're supposedly making sure that people don't have bad health outcomes and all of that.

But the other promise that's being made is an end to the 8am scramble for GP appointments.

No, so we've not been told anything and we want the 8am scramble to end too. I should point

out the reason why we have an 8 a.m. scramble is simply because we just don't have enough

appointments. So there are people rushing to be

seen. There's a massive queue of people either on the telephone or outside to get the small number

appointments that's available. So ultimately we need more people to be able to deliver more appointments.
