My guests this week is Ilana Haggler.

Ilana was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of five.

She currently lives in Alabama, where she's an assistant professor of art at Alabama State University and writes for the wonderful

art blog Painting Perceptions, which I hope you are familiar with.

Elana got her Bachelor of Arts in both Studio Art and Psychology from Brandeis University in Boston.

She continued her study in Italy where, as she puts it, she stumbled her way into a program

with the great painter Leonard Anderson.

In this interview, Ilana talks about that meeting and how his lessons continue to influence her today.
