Good evening from New York. I'm Antonia Hilton in tonight for Chris Hayes. Donald Trump's

federal takeover of Washington, D.C. is rounding out its third day as California's first major step to

resist Trump meets an authoritarian pushback of its own. Tonight, we are learning that the occupying

officials, both federal agents

and National Guard members, are going to increase their presence in the city from mainly

overnight enforcement to 24-hour patrols. This includes an increase in car checkpoints,

in addition to patrols on the streets. This ramp- up in enforcement comes as we are already seeing very

active policing in the greater D.C. area. But Donald Trump wants everyone to know that things

are going great. He's a dictator. He's a dictator. People are so happy to see our military

going into D.C. and getting these thugs out.

As you know, we arrested a lot of people yesterday.

Despite the president's claim, I'm not so sure that people are so happy with what this administration is doing.

We all countries.

We are our country.

In California today,

Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom

announced perhaps the most robust,

offensive move to resist Trump

from an elected Democrat yet.

Newsom says his state will move forward with a plan to redraw its congressional maps ahead of next year's midterms,

to make them more friendly for his party.
