We begin with this breaking news on the coup trial in the Supreme Court.

Donald Trump has formally asked the Supreme Court to intercede,

take a case, and block or overturn that big ruling

that made so much news that he can be criminally prosecuted for his efforts to steal the

2020 election after he lost.

Donald Trump, through his lawyers tonight, is requesting the justices basically try to pause that trial, then hear the case.

Delay alone could be big for him, a reversal which frankly most legal experts see is unlikely the idea that the president

has permanent endless immunity after leaving office would be another thing that they're asking

for. The filing goes to the questions about Special Counsel Jacksmith's coup case against Trump.

And this is something we heard about and now you're going to see exactly how it works.

Trump's lawyers having lost that first and second round now repeat they're losing arguments arguing the quote

without immunity from prosecution the presidency as we know it will cease to

exist it's not clear whether that kind of hyperbole will entice the court

but they also write that conducting a month-long criminal clear whether that kind of hyperbole will entice the court.

But they also write that conducting a months long criminal trial of Trump at the height of election

season will radically disrupt his ability to campaign.

And then they say that appears to be the whole point of the Special Council's persistent demands for expedition.

Now, this is the case, very controversially, where Donald Trump's lawyers argued that a president should have such sweeping immunity, that he could do all kinds

of things and never be held to account even after leaving office.
