On this Monday, a bunch of letters came in asking whether Donald Trump has been helped in the presidential

race by the two attempted assassinations.

I will say this, it's impossible to ascertain whether Trump has been hurt or helped by this.

You know that any kind of incident like this damages a person inside,

so I guess you can safely say that's true.

Politically, here's what the reality is.

Anyone running for higher office is not a person

once they get into a race.

They are a caricature.

That means that voters, dissenters, supporters don't look at them as real people.

They're objects. But once a person almost gets killed and then there's

another heinous incident that person becomes human at least for a little while and that's what happened

to Donald Trump. Now you saw him at the Republican Convention when he came out

in the beginning of his speech, he was measured.

He understood the emotional impact,

both on himself and on the country.

This latest Florida thing is a little bit more distant.

Mr. Trump did not experience direct trauma.

But I will tell you that many people are taking a second look at the former president and for him that's a good
