Well, welcome to St. Patrick's Cathedral, and it's wonderful to be here today with Archbishop Ronald Hicks.

Your Excellency, thank you so much for speaking with me today.

The honor, the joy is all mine. Thank you.

So today was your first St. Patrick's Mass in St. Patrick's Cathedral.

What was that like?

Everyone was building up the expectations.

They were saying it's big, it's special.

You've never seen anything like this.

And they were right.

The cathedral is filled with people of good faith and goodwill and celebrating our patron saint,

St. Patrick's, but also the contribution of the Irish people to this country, to this church,

people who built our schools and our parishes, our churches,

and have contributed faith, it was a beautiful celebration. And I couldn't have asked for anything more.

It was. I was here this morning as well with my son, and it was a beautiful mass. You talked a lot

about the Irish immigrants who literally helped build this

church in the 1850s. What does their story mean to you? Their story is significant. They came

searching for a better life. They left everything they had sacrificed so much, worked hard,

came with family and faith and love, and contributed.

You know, the contributions that are made to this church, like you said, they built this church.

And I think the message that we have here is that they sacrificed a lot for this present generation.

What are we going to do with it?

And how are we going to carry on the faith?
