In this episode, a long-distance swimmer sets out to achieve her lifelong goal in

directors Elizabeth Chai Vassarelli and Jimmy Chin's biographical sports drama, Niyadh.

The film tells the true story of how 60-year-old athlete Diana Niyadh, with the help of her

best friend and coach, committed herself to achieving her

dream of completing a 110-mile swim from Cuba to Florida.

In addition to Nyad, Vesarelli and Chin's other directorial credits include the documentary features,

Wildlife, and Return to Space, and episodes of the documentary series, Edge of the Unknown with

Jimmy Chin, and Op Docs.

They are three-time DGA Award nominees for outstanding directorial achievement in documentary

for their features, The Rescue, Free Solo, and Meru.

Following a screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, Vasarelli and Chin spoke with director Lisa Cholidenko about filming Nyad. Listen on for their spoiler-filled conversation.
