Now, Chris sitting opposite me was a professional footballer at Crystal Palace, Aldershot,

South End, Derby, Charlton, West Ham, Charlton again, Watford, Charlton for a third time.

And finally, Lester.

This is our first NTT20 meets interview with a former England international.

Chris played five times for England under Sven Yoran Erickson and was also chairman of the PFA for many years.

But most recently, Chris is a manager, and that is all EFL, while part of his playing career

might have been a bit too Premier League for our liking.

Chris has been manager of Charlton, of Huddersfield, and most recently South End.

That was a tenure of just over a year, which ended towards the end of March. Chris, it's a real pleasure to sit down with you.

How are you?

Yeah, so as I mentioned, you left South End just at the end of March, so we're probably six weeks out from that.

Some of the other managers that we've sat down with have spoken about how difficult it can be to go from the

all-consuming chaos of being a football manager to being unemployed, essentially.

For some of them it was the first time they've been out of the game since they were youth team players. You're a bit more experienced in your managerial

career and you have experienced this before. What's the experience been like for you this time?

It's a good question because I think people deal with it in different ways. I think the first
