In a joint op-ed in London Sunday Times newspaper,

the foreign ministers of the UK and Germany, say there's an urgent

need for a ceasefire in Gaza.

This has been calls from some of Israel's closest allies that greater care needs to be taken to avoid civilian casualties.

David Cameron and Analena Bearbock wrote that too many civilians had already been killed and

called for a quote sustainable ceasefire but they also

acknowledge they would not demand Israel end its military operations in Gaza

immediately since Hamas still represented a threat this position puts the

UK and Germany at odds with the French government, which is demanding

a quote immediate truce.
