ceasefire in Gaza after the US veto a Security Council resolution calling

for that. And Piers Michelle Kellerman reports the vote came as Arab leaders visited Washington

to push the U.S. to use its leverage with Israel to end the war.

U.S. Ambassador Robert Wood says the resolution was rushed through the council and ignored the diplomatic efforts that the U.S. has taken to get more aid into Gaza and get hostages out.

Equally disappointing is that the authors decline to add language reaffirming that the ICRC must be

permitted to access and provide medical treatment to the hostages still held by Hamas

terrorists and other extremists.

Secretary General Antonio Guterresh asked the Security Council to help prevent a catastrophe

in Gaza.

Jordan's foreign minister visiting Washington says the failure to agree on a ceasefire is an endorsement of the further killing of Palestinians.
