Live from NPR News in Washington on Corva Coleman, New York City police are still searching

for the person who shot and killed the CEO of United Healthcare.

Authorities have released new photos of a person of interest following Brian Thompson

slaying early Wednesday morning in front of a Manhattan hotel.

NPR member station WNYC reports police found shell casings at the shooting scene with the words deny, defend, and depose written on them.

President Elect Trump says he will appoint venture capitalist David Sachs to be the White House's artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies are.

NPR's Bobby Allen reports.

David Sachs is a venture capitalist associated with the so-called PayPal Mafia,

a group of right-leaning technologists who helped found payment processor PayPal in the late 1990s.

In recent years, Sachs has helped fundraise for Trump and attacked what he sees as woke politics on his podcast All In.

Sachs is expected to oversee the dismantling of tech industry regulations.

He will also give crypto advocates a direct line into the White House and work alongside Elon Musk,

a close friend of Sachs.

In his post on Truth Social announcing the role, Trump also said Sacks will safeguard free speech

online and fight the censorship of big tech.

Trump has also nominated former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott to head the Customs and Border Protection Agency,

and he tapped the assistant director of the Office of Firearms and Tactics, Kalam Vitello,

as the acting director of immigration

and customs enforcement, or ICE. A New York State judge will hear oral arguments today in a case

about a novel approach to preventing racial discrimination in elections. NPR's Hansi Lo Wong has more.
