Israeli officials say they've recalled their diplomatic team that had been negotiating a possible

second temporary truce in the fight against Hamas in Gaza.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office says the talks had reached an impasse.

And Pierce Bryan Mann has more from Tel Aviv.

The first humanitarian pause lasted a week before collapsing early Friday. negotiations were underway in Cotter aimed at

restoring the ceasefire, but Ambassador Mark Regge, a senior advisor to Prime Minister Netanyahu,

who said the talks are over for now.

In a separate press conference,

Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner,

a spokesman for Israel's army,

said military operations against Hamas are underway across Gaza.
