Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Janine Hurst. With just a few weeks

before Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris and

former President Donald Trump are both making their closing arguments.

And Piers Marr Eliason has more.

Donald Trump's message has become increasingly authoritarian.

He's promised to use the military to go after his opponents who he says are evil

He said one day of rough policing would solve the crime problem and he won't commit to accepting the results of the election if he loses.

In her closing arguments, Kamala Harris has been spending more time talking about

Trump.

She calls him dangerous, unstable, lost and confused.

And since the media no longer carries his speeches live, Harris plays clips of Trump's extreme

statements at her own rallies in an attempt to remind voters what they used to not like about

him. Polls show the race is still a toss-up.

Neither candidate has been able to develop a lead

nationally or in any of the seven battleground states

that is outside the margin of error.
