The Gaza Strip has no electricity and hospitals are running out of fuel for generators, as

Israel has ordered about 1 million residents to evacuate their homes.

Israel is telling Palestinians civilians to move to the southern part of Gaza, warning

that a major military operation will be coming soon in the north of Gaza.

Now thousands of these Palestinians are moving to the south, but many are remaining in their

homes in the north.

Israel is already conducting punishing air strikes throughout Gaza, and large numbers

of troops and armored vehicles are assembled just outside Gaza's border fence.

Among those trapped are U.S. citizens.

The State Department today thought it had an agreement with Egypt to get U.S. residents

out through the Rafa border opening, but that never happened.

The State Department says it continues to work with Israel in Egypt on trying to find a way out.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country will crush and destroy the Hamas militants

responsible for last week's attacks on southern Israel.

President Biden today spoke with Netanyahu again, pledging U.S. support, but he also says

he wants civilians protected, and for them to have access to food, water, and medicine
