What is it that in Biden is continuing to say despite a move to expand another 20 miles

of wall along the U.S. Southern border, he had no choice since under the previous administration

money for the purpose was authorized by Congress, where Biden also said he doesn't believe

the wall works even as NPR's Joel Rose says there's been a surge of migrants at the border

in recent months.

So Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas also insisted yesterday that this is not

a shift in policy when it comes to border walls.

As I said, the administration is very much trying to get illegal border crossings down.

Those crossings were lower for a while over the summer after the administration rolled

out some new legal pathways and tougher enforcement measures at the border.

But now crossings are climbing again sharply near the record numbers that we saw last year.

NPR's Joel Rose agents reportedly logged more than 3,000 apprehensions last weekend.

The 18 foot high section of wall will be added along the Rio River Valley in Star County,

Texas.
