The White House continues to slam the impeachment inquiry being launched against President Biden.

NPR's Windsor Johnston reports yesterday's announcement comes ahead of a critical deadline

to prevent parts of the government from shutting down next month.

Calling the formal impeachment inquiry a political stunt, White House Press Secretary

Kareen Jean-Pierre once again took aim at House Speaker Kevin McCarthy accusing him

of caving to a group of Republican hardliners who have the power to oust him.

The only reason Speaker McCarthy is doing this is because Majority Taylor Greene has said

she threatened to shut down the government.

Can you imagine shutting down the government?

We're talking about vital programs that American families need.

Several House committees have been investigating the Biden family's business dealings for months.

Congressional Democrats and some Republicans have said the probes have not produced any evidence

that implicate the President.

Former President Donald Trump and several other defendants are waving their right to seek a

speedy trial in the Georgia case, where they're accused of participating in a conspiracy

to overturn his loss in the 2020 presidential election.

The filings are part of the legal maneuvering in Fulton County where district attorney

Fanny Willis wants to try all 19 defendants together starting next month.

Her office says having multiple high-level trials would tax the county's resources.

Under Georgia law, a defendant who files a demand for a speedy trial has a right to have a trial
