Israel's military says it recovered the bodies of six hostages who were killed shortly before soldiers were attempting a rescue.

The hostages ranging in age from 23 to 40 have been held in Gaza since they were kidnapped on October 7th by Hamas militants.

Among the 6th is an American Israeli citizen whose parents had met with world leaders and spoke at last month's Democratic National Convention in hopes of securing support for their son's release.

President Biden said he was both saddened and outraged by the discovery.

their release ceasefire negotiations have stalled for months with both
