Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Janine Herbst. Former President Donald Trump has

pleaded not guilty to charges that he tried to overturn his 2020 presidential election

loss in Georgia. In a court filing today, he also waived his right to appear at an

arraignment that had been scheduled for Wednesday. Some of his 18 co-defendants have also

waived their appearance. Trump faces 13 felony counts in Georgia. The Republican presidential

nomination frontrunner was booked at a Fulton County jail in Atlanta last week. The

judge hasn't set a trial date yet. President Biden will visit Florida Saturday morning

as much of the state recovers from Hurricane Italia. As NPR's Deepa Shiverham reports,

Biden made the announcement during a surprise stop at FEMA headquarters in Washington,

DC.

President Biden says he will visit Florida over the weekend to view the damage from

Hurricane Italia. He thanked FEMA workers and said he wants to make sure there is a whole

of government response to the natural disasters impacting the country. Biden said there

has always been a need for around the clock response work to disasters.

But this last couple years was climate change and really kicking in. You guys are going

24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

Biden will meet with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during his visit to the state. He has spoken

on the phone with the governor several times in the last few days to discuss the hurricane's
