Live from NPR News in Washington, on Corva Coleman, forecasters say dangerous heat continues

to blanket parts of the central U.S. and the Southwest. Temperatures and heat indexes

will climb well over 100 degrees in many locations. Joy Meredith is a business owner in Palm

Springs, California. Temperatures there will hit 110 degrees today. Meredith says they're

dealing with the heat and the expense of air conditioning.

It is really a double whammy because not only do we have less business, but our

costs like electricity is higher. And in our store, we even have more employees on

because we're trying to stay open earlier and later so that we can catch the people

that maybe want to come out when it's not so hot. Southern Florida is also under

an excessive heat warning today with triple digit temperatures expected. Search

teams in Pennsylvania are concentrating their efforts to find a missing baby. He was swept

away in a flash flood north of Philadelphia more than a week ago. That flood killed six

people including his mother and two-year-old sister. Former President Donald Trump is

bracing for another federal indictment. As NPR's Carrie Johnson reports, Trump says he expects

to be charged in the long-running investigation into the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential

election. The former president told the world he received a target letter from the special

council investigating the disruption of the peaceful transfer of power more than two

years ago. Trump says he's quote, completely innocent. And he's been fundraising off the

latest action from the U.S. Justice Department. Any January 6 related charges would mark the

third indictment for Trump. Following action from the Manhattan District Attorney in a

hush money case. And Trump's alleged obstruction of an FBI probe seeking the return of classified

documents toward his Florida resort. The New York case is scheduled for trial in March
