Even as President Biden's ability to run for re-election is in the spotlight.

The President continues to stumble publicly.

Speaking at the NATO summit today,

Biden briefly called Ukrainian leader of Lodi Mira Zelenski Putin before correcting himself, but that

gaff is minor compared to the challenge Biden faces tonight, a one-on-one press conference.

NPR's Windsor Johnston reports.

Both critics and allies of the president will be watching closely as Biden takes questions

during an unscripted news conference at the end of a three-day NATO summit.

Justin Crow, a political science professor at Williams College,

expresses doubts that Biden can restore confidence

among his skeptics.

He could do a press conference and he could knock it out of the park.

He could, the rope lines can be energetic and lively.

Likewise, on the other side, I'm not sure to his supporters what would have to happen for them to reconsider that position.

The White House has spent the week defending the President's abilities but that's done little

to silence doubts that he's the best candidate to beat Donald Trump.
