President Biden begins a three-country trip to Europe today.

He'll visit the United Kingdom, Lithuania, and Finland.

As NPR's Osmo College reports, his main mission is to shore up relations with U.S. allies.

Biden will be attending a NATO summit in Lithuania on this trip.

Jake Sullivan is Biden's national security adviser.

Thanks in large part to President Biden's leadership.

NATO is stronger, more energized, and more united than ever.

The NATO alliance has remained unified in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

But the issue of expanding the alliance has been tricky.

Sweden has wanted to join the club, but Turkey has not yet agreed.

NATO leaders are also expected to discuss Ukraine's desire to join the alliance.

The White House has made it clear that it thinks that Ukraine still needs to make additional

reforms first to come up to NATO standards.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has left Beijing after a four-day visit.

She said her meetings with Chinese officials were direct and productive,

and have advanced efforts to put the relationship on a sure footing.

Yellen said the U.S. sees the world as big enough for both countries to thrive.

A manhunt is underway in northwestern Pennsylvania for a man who escaped from the Warren County

jail last week.

Officials say Michael Burham got out Thursday night using a roped fashion from bed sheets.
