he'll decide within the next two weeks whether the U.S. will join Israel's military operation

against Iran aimed at eliminating Tehran's

nuclear threat. That's according to White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, speaking to reporters

yesterday at the White House. NPR's Jane Araf in Amman reports on reaction in the Middle East

to Israeli defense minister Israel Katz threatening Iran's supreme

leader. This region is extremely rattled by those renewed Israeli threats to kill the

Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamani. Israeli defense minister Israel Katz put it this way. He said the

Israeli military had, quote, been instructed and knows that in

order to achieve all of its goals, this man absolutely should not continue to exist. The threat followed

Iranian missile strikes in Israel yesterday, including ones that hit a high-rise apartment building in Tel Aviv and another

that struck a hospital in southern Israel. This is the eighth day of fighting between Israel and Iran.

In Geneva today, Iran's foreign minister is scheduled to meet with his counterparts from Britain,

France, and Germany to discuss Tehran's nuclear program and efforts to end the

Israeli attacks. A federal appeals court in California says President Trump can continue deploying

National Guard troops to Los Angeles. In a unanimous order, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of

Appeals says the President does not have to return control of the National Guard to

Governor Gavin Newsom. The governor had sued, arguing the president, exceeded his authority
