A search is underway about 900 miles east of Cape Cod at the Titanic wreckage site for

a tourist submersible that vanished there.

The vessel which takes passengers to that site has five people on board and lost contact

with the mothershipless than two hours after going into the ocean.

Thus a operator Oceangate says it didn't surface.

Coast Guard Rieraad Mill John Margaret says the submarine hunter aircraft are being used

to try and find it from both the US and Canadian coast guards along with commercial vessels.

We have to make sure that we're looking on both the surface using aerial and surface

vessels but then expanding into underwater search as well.

Right now our capability is limited to sonar buoys and listening for sounds but you know

we're working very hard to increase the capability.

The submersible began its trip with about four days worth of oxygen.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken and China's president Xi Jinping have agreed to stabilize

US China ties over two days of talks.

The second day with China's Xi, some diplomatic progress was made but at least one major

issue is unresolved.

Blinken raised having the defense chiefs from both countries talked to one another again.

Communication lines that were cut last summer.

In the last month the Chinese fighter jet came dangerously close to an American surveillance

plane in the South China Sea and a Chinese Navy ship also cut in front of an American vessel
