After passing the House on a bipartisan vote, the debt ceiling bill is now headed to the

Senate.

But it is a race against the clock to get it passed and onto the president's desk for

his signature before the U.S. is forecast to run out of money to pay its bills.

That would happen on Monday, according to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is urging the Chamber to pass it fast.

There's been a very good vote in the House of Representatives.

I hope we can move the bill quickly here in the Senate and bring it to the president's

desk as soon as possible.

There's almost no room for a delay and the goal is to pass the bill by Friday night.

And those senators were planning on a three-day weekend they would stay in town to work

on passing the bill.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell echoed the urgency of passing the bill, telling his

fellow Republican senators time is of the essence.

A federal judge in Houston today will hear arguments from the state of Texas about

the future of the DACA program.

As Rebecca Noel from Houston Public Media reports, today's hearing comes after the Biden

administration implemented a rule last year to fortify protections for its current recipients.

The deferred action for Childhood Arrivals program allows undocumented individuals brought

to the U.S. before the age of 16 to avoid deportation and apply for renewable work permits.
