President Biden is calling for an end to the war in Gaza.

As N-Piers Asmachalad reports,

his comments came during remarks from the White House

in which he endorsed a new Israeli ceasefire proposal.

The president announced that Israel has offered a new three-part proposal.

It's a roadmap to an enduring ceasefire and the release of all hostages.

The first phase would last six weeks and include the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all

populated areas of Gaza and the release of a number of hostages.

Ultimately, Biden said the plan could lead to a permanent end of hostilities.

Hamas has yet to agree to the proposal, and Biden acknowledged that some within the Israeli government may not agree with it either,

but he said it is time for the war to end. His comments come as Israel has been pushing

deeper into the southern Gaza city of Rafa.
