The U.S. military says the first trucks of humanitarian aid

moved ashore from a floating pier off Gaza. The hope is that these deliveries will alleviate hunger in Gaza, where the UN says 1.1 million

Palestinians face starvation.

But as Enperes Hadil Alsashi reports, it might not be enough. The pier is the size of five football fields

and cost three hundred and twenty million dollars. The US military says it wants to

scale up from moving ninety trucks of aid a day to 150 in Gaza via the pier.

But the United Nations says Gaza needs 350 to 400 trucks a day to meet the current needs.

Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner General of the UN Agency for Palestinian refugees, told

NPR Stephen Skeep that the situation is urgent.

So it will certainly help, but it will not be at scale enough to respond to the extraordinary needs of the population.

The World Food Program says there is a real threat of famine in Gaza.

Authorities in Ukraine say Russian guided bombs Friday killed at least three people

and injured more than two dozen in the

northeastern city of Harkiv. The Russian strikes come as Kremlin leader

Vladimir Putin says taking the city isn't currently his military goal

as in Pierce Charles Mainz reports from Moscow.

Speaking at a press conference following a two day visit to China,

Putin said a recent Russian offensive in Ukraine's Harkiv region was aimed at creating a so-called security zone.
