Live from NPR News in Washington. I'm Janine Hurst. Teams from both Israel and Hamas are in Egypt today to resume ceasefire talks which have been stalled

for months.

Today marks six months in the Israel-H Hamas war that has killed more than 33,000 people and left

tens of thousands wounded.

And Ferris Kerry Khan reports more than 100 Israelis remain captive in Gaza.

Hamas says it wants an end to Israeli aggression.

And Israel says it will only accept a temporary cease ceasefire to allow for an exchange of hostages

being held in Israeli prisons.

Tens of thousands of Israelis demonstrated in several cities Saturday night demanding a return of the hostages and

calling for new elections. Dis satisfaction with the government of Prime Minister

Benjamin Netanyahu is growing as the war drags on. UN Undersecretary General Martin Griffiths called the

widespread death and devastation in Gaza a betrayal of humanity and hoped the

six month mark in the war would spur the world's determination to end it.
