The Republican-led House has voted along party lines to approve a stopgap bill to avoid a government shutdown Friday night.

NPR's Claudio Grosalos reports all eyes are now on the Senate, where the

GOP hopes Democrats will help them get the bill to President Trump's desk.

House Speaker Mike Johnson flipped a handful of GOP holdouts to pass the Stopgap bill to fund

the entirety of the current fiscal year, a reflection of the party's unwavering loyalty to President

Trump.

Now Trump said he'll lead a charge to ensure the lone no vote among House Republicans.

Kentucky GOP Congressman Thomas Massey will face a primary challenger.

Most Democrats voted against the measure, alarmed by plans to allow more leeway for the Trump administration on spending decisions. It's unclear if Senate Democrats will follow suit.

The National Transportation Safety Board is calling for a ban on many helicopter flights near

Washington-Regan National Airport.

That's in the wake of January's deadly collision between a military helicopter and an American Airlines jet.

David Schaper reports of the NTSB says there have been far too many similar near collisions in that congested airspace.
