Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Jack Spear, the head of the UN agency that

AIDS Palestinian says UNRWA, as it is known, is at a breaking point and he

says eight operations in Gaza could crumble because of it.

Speaking to the UN General Assembly, Philippe Lazarini says he took swift action

when Israel accused 12 of UNRWA's 13,000 staffers in Gaza of taking part

in the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel.

But he says 16 donors pause their funding for the agency, holding up 450 million dollars.

Unroix has no capacity to absorb financial shocks, especially while the war rages in Gaza.

Lazarini says the fate of the agency and the millions of Palestinians who depend on it

hang in the balance.

The report is funding there's a growing gap in voter turnout rates between white voters and

voters of color.

As NPR's Hanzi the Wong reports, one contributing factors of the U.S. Supreme Court's 2013 decision

to dismantle the key part of the Voting Rights Act.

Researchers at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU's law school analyzed voter file records

across the country,

and they found the voter turnout gap between white voters and voters of color

grew between 2012 and 2022 in the estimated four percentage points higher in counties

that previously had to fill a key Voting Rights Act requirement than in counties that previously had to fell a key
