Live from NPR News in Washington, on Corvac Olman, the EPA says it will resume shipping contaminated

waste away from the site of the train derailment in eastern Ohio.

The director of the Ohio State EPA and Vogel says teams have cleared away more debris.

All the railcars except for the NTSB held cars have been removed from the site.

This is so critically important to moving on to next steps.

We can now excavate additional contaminated soil and begin installing monitoring wells.

The announcement comes a day after the federal EPA told railroad Norfolk Southern to pause

shipments of the contaminated soil.

There were questions about where the waste was being moved.

Some of it had already gone to science in Michigan and Texas.

The National Weather Service is warning of dangerous winds in the southern plains today.

Some could gust between 80 and 110 miles per hour.

Some of these winds hit the central plains late last night with thunderstorms and tornadoes.

From member station KOSU Grayson Wheeler reports, some homes in Oklahoma are damaged and

thousands lost power.

As the line of storms moved across the plains, it generated around 50 tornado warnings

in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas.

Reportedly including a damaging tornado that stayed on the ground for 15 miles in central

Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service confirmed 114 mile-power winds in the Texas Pianhandle.

The storm blew over power lines, trees, and tractor trailers, but injury numbers are

unclear.
