President Biden made an unannounced visit to Kiev today in advance of the one-year

anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

He said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had thought Ukraine was weak and the West

was divided, but he was dead wrong.

You know, one year later, Kiev stands.

And Ukraine stands.

Democracy stands.

The Americans stand with you and the world stands with you.

Kiev has captured a part of my heart, I must say.

He said the US will provide more assistance to Ukraine, a half billion dollars, and there

will be new sanctions against Russia, with details to be released in the coming days.

Later, the President is scheduled to visit Poland.

North Korea has increased its threats against the US and South Korea, as well as its weapons

test in recent days.

NPR's Anthony Cune reports from Seoul, all this comes as the US and South Korea prepare

for military tabletop exercises this week that simulate a North Korean nuclear attack.

South Korea's military says the North fired two short-range ballistic missiles into

water's office east coast.

Hours later, it fired two rounds of rocket artillery, which the North claims is capable

of carrying tactical nuclear weapons.
