China says it raised concerns with Iran about who the attacks on

shipping in the Red Sea. A senior Biden administration official says the

issue came up in a meeting over the weekend between National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and

China's top foreign policy official.

And Piers John Ruwich has more.

Jake Sullivan met Chinese Polyburaura member Wang Yi in Bangkok for two days of meetings, it's part of what

the White House says are efforts to maintain communication and manage the competition between

China and the U.S.

The Biden administration has also been pressing China to use its influence over Iran to rein in proxies like the Huthies

and help prevent the Israel-Hama's conflict from spiraling into a wider war.

Beijing says it's raising the issue with Iran, according to a senior Biden administration

official, but asked if there were any results yet, the official noted that Huthy attacks

on civilian shipping lanes continue, and said it remains to be seen if China

will use its economic leverage over Tehran.

New federal data shows that Border Patrol apprehended more than

370,000 unauthorized migrants in December, the highest monthly total in

more than 20 years. Arizona Public Media's Danielle Khmera reports 80,000 apprehensions took place in the Tucson era area.
