Live from NPR News in Washington, on Corvo Coleman, the city of Memphis will release the police

body cam footage of a group of officers who brutally beat a black motorist during a traffic

stop.

29-year-old Tyree Nichols died a few days later in the hospital.

His family commissioned an autopsy that said the beating caused his death.

Benjamin Crump is the lawyer for Nichols' family.

He says the fact that the accused former Memphis officers are black is not the main issue.

It is not the race of the police officer that is the determining factor of whether they're

going to engage in excessive use of force, but it is the race of the citizen.

And oftentimes it's black and brown citizens who bear the brunt of this police brutality.

The five ex-offices now face murder and other charges.

Advisors to the Food and Drug Administration are endorsing the agency's plans to make

major changes to the nation's strategy for vaccinating people against COVID-19.

NPR's Rob Stein reports the goal is to simplify the vaccination process.

After a day-long meeting, the FDA Advisors voted to simplify how people get vaccinated

against COVID and make the process much more like the annual flu shots.

Right now, getting vaccinated against COVID means getting two of the original shots, weeks

apart, followed by one of the new Bivalent Omercron boosters at least two months later.

Under the new process, most people would just get one shot every fall that's been updated

to try to match whatever strains of the virus are expected to be spreading each winter.

The idea is to make vaccination much less complicated and confusing and hopefully more

appealing.
