Live from NPR News in Washington. I'm Jack Spear. The U.S. and Britain have launched strikes on multiple Huthy targets in

Yemen. That's according to U.S. officials speaking on condition of anonymity. The strikes

follow more than two months of attacks by

Huthies against international cargo ships and U.S warships in the Red Sea,

expanding the Middle East conflict. The Biden administration has been

telegraphing possible retaliation against Iranian-backed huthi militants for days. has been

The Pentagon has been unable to adequately track some of the US weapons being sent to

Ukraine. That's according to new report from the Defense Department's

The report does not cite evidence that weapons sent to Ukraine were stolen or

otherwise misused, but it says the Defense Department has not

properly accounted for more than a billion dollars of arms, including missiles and drones.

The report comes as the Biden administration seeks a new round of military aid, which is being blocked by Republicans.

In most cases the U.S. delivers weapons to Ukraine near its western border with Poland.

Ukraine then decides how to use them. In response to the report a

Pentagon official wrote that heavy fighting makes it impossible for a small

number of U.S. officials to inventory tens of thousands of weapons.
