Well, hello there, friendos. This is your loyal host, Luke. You've landed upon a very

special Thursday afternoon edition of TBTL. Shogs probably too beautiful to live. Today

we are going to take a trip far, far back in time all the way to the first ever episode

of TBTL. That's right. If you recently come to the show, this will be a fun and disturbing

voyage for you to hear just how bad this show used to be. I know you think it's oftentimes

awful, but it started out even off-ler. And if you've heard the first show before, well,

you can turn your iPod off right now. Because the joke is on you, you've already downloaded

this episode and we got credit for it. I'm on a plane flying to Los Angeles even as this

is being posted. And I was trying to think of something kind of interesting to put up here.

And I thought, in fact, you know, a lot of people have probably never heard the first

ever episode of the program. We certainly have talked about it extensively, but unless

you knew the exact date that the show started, you on the TBTL website weren't able to

go back and specifically find it. So I thought by way of knowing our history, which like

we like to say on this show, if we don't know our history, we might be doomed to repeat it.

We would never want to repeat this. What you're about to hear is literally the first ever

hour of TBTL was live radio. We were on AM back in the battle days of 2008. Jennifer and

I had never actually worked on a radio show together in the live setting. So here we were.

It was 7 o'clock on a Monday night. I was dog tired because I had been up all day promoting

the show on the other radio programs on Cairo. About five minutes before the show started,

Jennifer and I walked over to the legendary Azteca. Had a few shots of the Alki Hall. And

then we came back and it was time to do the show. And I can tell you that my heart was absolutely

beating out of my chest. Honestly, one of the most nerve-wracking things I've ever tried
