Congress gave itself an early Christmas present this year by clearing the decks of any major year-end government funding deadlines and kicking them into next year.

But that doesn't mean December is going

to be void of any drama. In the House, lawmakers are expected to vote once again to expel George

Santos, and this time he's probably actually going to get the boot. This comes after the ethics

panel found in mid-November that he used campaign money for personal expenses,

Botox, spending splurges in the Hamptons in Atlantic City, and even on a website known for selling

porn. And several Republicans who opposed previous efforts to oust him have actually come around

following those findings. And Ethics Chairman Michael Gest has now introduced the latest resolution

to oust Santos based on the committee's report. In the next couple weeks before the holiday

break, Congress has to deal with defense and FISA reauthorization, not to mention the ongoing

Tuberville holds of about 400 military promotions. A vote on a tweak to a rule that essentially allows

senators to go around his blockade is expected in December sometime, although probably not this

week. But the big talker of this week, as lawmakers return from their Thanksgiving holiday,

is going to be on the White House's $100 billion supplemental request.

This is the request for money for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and the U.S.-Mexico border.

Right now, there are questions about whether both sides can even come to an agreement to actually pass this supplemental.

You'll recall that Republicans are facing voter skepticism about the merits of continuing Ukraine funding,

and they've demanded tighter asylum restrictions at the border in return for their support.

Democrats, of course, are hearing pushback from progressives who are loath to make these sorts of

changes. And meanwhile, the White House wants funding for all these national security measures
