Hi everyone. Welcome to this bonus episode of the Daily Gospel Exegesis podcast. Thank you so much for your

this approach to studying scripture. So every now and then, I try to respond to some questions

that have come in to the ministry. I can't always give perfect answers, but I want to do my best

to address people's questions on their own terms. So let's go through a few questions that have been received recently.

This one is from Craig.

It's quite a personal question about healing.

So I'll try and help untangle this, but without giving any definitive answers.

He says, I really like your podcast.

Thank you for your ministry.

My question, Mark chapter 1, verse 40, if you will, you can make me clean.

And I'll stop there.

So this is when Jesus says to the leper who approaches him, sorry, when the leper says to Jesus,

if you want to, you can make me clean. And then Jesus says,

I do want to. And then he heals the leper. So Craig says, this to me reflects that prayer is God's

will, his plan be done. It is my understanding that you said in a previous podcast that one will be healed not only spiritually

but physically if one asks in faith. Now I want to stop there. I'm not sure if that's entirely

accurate as to what I probably said in a previous podcast. So the Gospels make it clear that

Jesus can heal people both spiritually and

physically if one asks in faith. Probably what I was trying to emphasize in my comment was that

faith is a requirement if one wants to be healed in this way because there are some instances in

the Gospels where Jesus can't perform miracles because there's not enough faith. So certainly there does seem to be an element of a level of faith is a prerequisite for certain
