Welcome to Navarra FM. I'm Eleanor Penny. There's an old saying, a lie can get round the world twice before truth has had time to get its boots on.

And in a media and political landscape increasingly filled with misinformation, disinformation,

conspiracist thinking and outright propaganda, this problem seems more entrenched by the day.

Throughout the genocide in Gaza, we've seen thousands of images and videos pouring out of the region,

and they have had to contend with denial, distraction, obfuscation and indifference from institutions of power.

So, when you're trying to reconstruct the truth, when you're trying to hold power to account, what do you do? How do you cut through the noise and wade through

hostile institutions to try and show how power really operates on the front lines of conflict

and structural violence? How do you try to make sure that people on the front lines of conflict and structural violence.

How do you try to make sure that people on those front lines are being heard?

Forensic Architecture is a research institute based out of Goldsmith's University of London.

It investigates potential human rights abuses and environmental destruction,

and more recently it was commissioned by the

legal team working on South Africa's case accusing Israel of genocide in the International Court

of Justice. Samaner is an architect, writer, and the assistant director of research at forensic

architecture, where she also oversees the Centre for Contemporary Nature. We talked about Grimfeld Tower, Al-Ajli

Hospital and the Black Lives Matter protests in Portland. We talked about tear gas, herbicide,

and the killing of five-year-old Palestinian girl Hindra Jab. So, Salman, thank you so much for

You work for forensic architecture. Some of our listeners might have heard of it. So for those who are uninitiated, can you tell us a bit about what forensic architecture is as an organization?

I'm interested in the sort of

problems that it was seeking to solve when it was set up. So we are a team of researchers.
