Fortuna. The morning after the first playoff rankings came out, which I think was a bit of

a, I don't know, a bucket of cold water in the face of Notre Dame when it comes to the playoff

chances. Not that we didn't know it was a long shot,

but it gave you a way to measure how long of a shot it actually was,

and it is quite long for Notre Dame to make the top four.

But Matt, I think you and I would both be in agreement that this season,

if it ends in the New York Six, would be a positive and a step forward, whether they're 11 and 1 or 10 and 2.

But I think after the playoff rankings came out last night, even 10 and 2, man, that feels a little bit more dodgy when it comes to the playoff than it did going into it, at least from my point of view.

Yeah, it was much like the rest of the country, Notre Dame fans were tuned in to see what

would happen with Cincinnati and hoping for the best case scenario, which I think a lot of

people's minds would have been number two.

Yeah.

And Cincinnati was not two, not three, not four, not even five, but six, which is about

the worst case scenario you could possibly hope for.

If you're a Notre Dame fanning, you're holding on to the faintest of hopes that there

was a path forward to college football playoff eligibility this year.

I did get a kick out of like the minute that the rankings got released,

Cincinnati Media Relations put out their game notes via email and said second rate bearcats

to take on Tulsaid out of somehow saying the bearcats were also ranked number six in the

college football playoff rankings on Tuesday night. It was, I was surprised. I'm not

surprised that the group of five is getting the stiff arm. That's essentially what's happened
