Trevor, part two of our show today is going to look at the Notre Dame linebacker room.

And this is a very intriguing unit for 2026 because, or 2025. See, we were sitting there

talking about the 2026 schedule and I'm still, my mind still on 2026. It is also intriguing for 2026.

It is going to be very intriguing because honestly everybody has a shot to come back

next year except for one guy.

Actually, they all.

Yeah, no, I think that's right.

Jalen's need redshirted in 2022.

So there's not a single guy that's going to be in the rotation this year who won't be eligible to come back in 2006, which just says a whole lot of a whole lot of that. So when you look at this, when you look at this room, Trev, it's, it's, look, expectations are very high. Going into last year, there was a lot of uncertainty about what the room would be. We love the talent, but, you know, how good are they going to be? You know, you've got to replace J.D. Bertrand, who's a three-year starter. You had to place Maris Leophe, who's a three-year starter. They got drafted in a third and fifth round. You got Jack Kaiser coming back. But the talk last year was, but Jack spent the three previous years starting as the rover. And now he's

moving to Will linebacker. You know, how would he perform there? How quickly would he step up? Drake Bowen didn't play a tonnet linebacker the year before. Kingston was the true freshman. J. Nalsbury was coming off of a red shirt. Jalen Steed hadn't really played a whole lot of meaningful minutes the year before. And when he did, he was very up and down. And it was like,

look, there's a lot of talent, but how good is this room going to be? And we said, of meaningful minutes the year before and when he did he was very up and down and it was like look

there's a lot of talent but how good is this room going to be and we said yes there's a lot of

question marks but don't be shocked if by the end of the year this is a strength of the defense and

I think that's exactly what it was and so now you're going to 2025 and there's a I mean there's

a lot to be excited about with this group treb and you're starting

to see Notre Dame become one of those programs that has positioned themselves to just reload

every year and just put one of these type of units with what they've done on the field but also

what they're doing on the recruiting trail now Now, however, you go into the season,

it's time for them to say, hey, you guys flashed like a big time linebacker unit last year.

You didn't always play like one. You showed flashes of one. Now it's time to do that and step up

and be that kind of unit while also having to replace a sixth year senior who played in

more games than anybody in Notre Dame history and was a captain for you last year. So high
