In part two of this breakdown, Trev, we want to kind of go player by player, and we're just going to kind of talk about what are expectations and what areas does this player need to grow and maybe any potential question marks with the players this room.

And we're going to start with the guy that is without a doubt the leader of their linebacker room.

And that is Drake Bowenen and he's a very

interesting player because he is he is that guy on defense that oddly has a split among the fan base

which is very strange and it's like i feel like notary and maybe all fan bases are like this but i feel

like notary name fans just there's a fraction of the fans that just like, I just want to like find someone to complain about. Like I just can't be happy. I can't just say, hey, this guy's a good player and this guy's a good player. It's like, well, if I like this guy, then this guy's blocking him. So I got to now tear down that guy. It's so odd. And Drake Bowen is that guy

that he just does. He, if he makes a mistake, he could have 12 tackles and four

tackles for loss. But if he has one bad run fit that costs a 15-yard run, that's all some

people on Twitter are going to want to talk about, is that one bad run fit. But if you talk

to people around the program, this is the leader of your

linebacker room. This is the one certainty of your room as far as what you can count on going

into the season. And as you and I've talked about this, I'll be shocked if Drake Bowen is not a

captain for this football team this year. Very shocked. Now, Drake has to build on his game,

though, and that's the thing is Drake can't rest in his laurels and say, well, I'm starting.

Coaches love me, so I'm just going to go out there doing my thing. He's got to build on his game.

And the expectations for me, for him in year two as a starter, is it's now time to take your game to

another level. And what does that look like for Drake? It's about being more assignment correct

in the run game and pass game. It's about saying, hey, I'm going to be more impactful

where Drake was a guy that I thought made a lot of tackles last season, but not a guy that

necessarily made as many impact plays last season at the line of scrimmage. And I think

that's twofold. One is how the defense was used, and we're going to talk more about that later.
